Statement, Cone Pour
On January 8, 1970, the great artist Robert Smithson came to Vancouver to perform Glue Pour, where he poured an industrial-size drum of glue down a slope in the UBC Endowment Lands. Smithson’s act of monumentalizing poured glue with careful planning and rigorous documentation had a certain bombastic tongue-in-cheek quality for me, and I wanted to see if I could push this further. On August 14, 2013 I melted an ice cream cone on a slope in Draycott Park in North Vancouver.
